Athlete

, Training Shoes: Nike Cortez

When I was still in secondary education, I used to be a an athlete for my school for the games of Badminton and a local martial arts called Arnis (Kali Eskrima). I love both of them. I really am a sports man.

Whenever we train ourselves, we are asked to wear shoes that are specifically made for training purposes. One of them is Nike's Cortez. The Cortez model is considered as one of Nike's most successful model. It has been around since 1967 when Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike and a notable coach, designed it for this athletes. I can really say that wearing the Cortez model during trainings is a perfect idea.

I credit my extensive training as the reason why I am become 'semi-famous' in both sports I joined. From the lowest sports level inside the school, I won my way up to the regional games, wherein all towns of a region will compete for a certain sport. The winner will then be sent to a higher level, the Palarong Pambansa or the National Games. Can you imagine me playing badminton in the morning and will compete with Arnis in the afternoon? Tiring but it really feels great when you win and people will admire you for it.

When I won in both sports, my coach in game made me decide to what sport should I really stick because the National Games do not allow dual category player. I chose Arnis since I excel there better as compared to badminton of which there are many highly potential players than me. I reached Palarong Pambansa in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In 2005, of which I am already a college student, my coach contacted me and told asked my help to stand as execution judge to the Arnis category in the 2005 SEA Games held in Manila, Philippines. I willingly accept his offer. In return, I was given proper compensation, SEA Games freebies and guess what, a free Nike Cortez shoes. Haha.

I never played Arnis since then. That was the last thing I did for the sports. I never thought that one of the reason why I excelled in the game is also the last gift I will earn from being involved in it. Cortez rocks!
