It's a record! In less than a month of collection, we have already reached 1900 pairs of shoes! In addition, we have also collected a relative amount of school supplies such as bags, notebooks, pencils, pens and even calculators. The Sole Box Shoe Foundation Philippines owe this success to the people who have willingly donated their old shoes who personally came to our office and to those people who put their shoes on the boxes we have provided in certain places.
We are also very honored to say that 3 of our sponsors donated a total of 750 brand new shoes. The most shoes we have received are sneakers and rubber shoes. We also have received sandals and outdoor slippers and a few formal dress shoes.
Almost 3/4 of our shoe collection for the previous weeks are old shoes, wherein some are already almost non-usable. But with the help of our shoe repairmen, we managed to bring some of them to their usable state again.
Though are some shoes that we were not able to save because of being too old. Despite this, we still thank the people who donated them to our boxes instead of dumping them anywhere else.
The Sole Box Foundation will also be participating in the October-November flea market in Tagaytay, Cavite, Philippines. We won't be selling the shoes that we have collected, but rather, we will sell handicrafts that are made by prisoners of Iwahig in Palawan. We have already coordinated to them and we managed to get the exclusive products.
The Sole Box Shoe Foundation would like to thank all those who supported us in our first few weeks and we all hope to work with you in the months to come. We expect to service a larger area by next month and soon we plan to penetrate the metros as well. Thank you all again!
