My friend works for the government as an NGO representative. He also heads a foundation that sends school children to school. he persuaded me a few days ago to join them but I said I can't as I have a lot of things to do.
But last night just before I sleep, I went over to his offer. I came up with an idea of setting up a shoe foundation that will give shoes to poor children going to schools barefooted and also to those street children who suffers cold feet specially now that it is raining hard here in the Philippines.
I coordinated with some friends and they supported me in my action. This week, I will be filing an affidavit of recognition in Manila to have my foundation registered. We all came up with the name Sole Box Foundation.
We plan on putting boxes on shopping malls, on business districts, executive villages and other locations where people can put in their old shoes as a donation.
I have already called onto my friend that we will be giving them parts of our shoe collection for the kids to use and the other remaining parts will go to other foundations around the metro. We hope that in few months time, we can get enough to supply other parts of the country as well.
So if you are living around Manila or anywhere in the country, perhaps living abroad, you can contact us at +639263786494. I'll be making further announcements in the coming days as soon as we have all the papers legalized. As of now we do not want any monetary donation, all we need is your old shoe. So instead of throwing them why not just donate them to the Sole Box Foundation!
Website and mailing address will soon be built. Thank you.

I have spent the past decade working on the streets of SA and I think this is an incredible initiative. In SA, I encourage the kids to get slip slops because in the summer the weather is condusive (sp) to sandals and allows their feet to breathe. In the Winter months their feet rot in shoes because they never take them off.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist from my side.
Lots of love
