This morning I had an encounter with an old friend before he went to his office. I have not seen him for quite a long time, actually I didn't even know he's been living in the same village with me all along. He's the same old friend I knew. The way he talk never changed, and also the way he dressed up. He is always the one we call in our room 'super down to earth' person, always simple, always so humble.
That's the main reason why when I look at his full suit, I felt like something's not good. He's wearing a nice suit, formal slacks, sleeves with tie, but wearing an old, decaying black shoes.
I told him that he should change his of dressing since he is already working in a big company. I told him he should get a new shoes so it will fit good in his corporate attire.
But no, he insist that's just a waste of money. He said it's ok for him to use that shoes as long as it is still usable.
Oh my, I love him for his being simple but there are times when you really need to buy something you don't technically need. Afterall, buying shoes as part of your daily uniform for work is an investment.
And besides, once in a while we should pamper ourselves after a long day's work. We should give ourselves a reward that we will enjoy that only for one day, but for a long time. And what I mean by "for a long time" is to buy a shoes that will last quite long.
