The municipal government of Dasmariņas, Cavite, in the Philippines, in cooperation with the Helping Livelihood Center, Center for Excellence Cavite and the Sole Box Foundation Philippines, will be having the first joint livelihood project for the unemployed citizens. The project is called Big Shoes Camp, a month long training camp for those who wants to learn about the basics of making shoes and also for those who wants to learn how to recycle their old shoes instead of throwing them away.
This event will mark Sole Box Foundation's first project with other organizations.
We aim to help those people who are already out of the "ideal age" to work on factories or other industrial firms. We especially target unemployed women, housewives.
After the month long training camp, the municipal government will be awarding 3 business assistance program to those who will excel the most during the training. That means 3 of the shoe making trainees will be able to build their own shoe factories and stores right after the training camp.
If lucky enough, one of the 3 chosen business assistance program awardee will be chosen to become the a member of the Zapatos Internacional Filipinas, a group of shoe makers who exports their shoes to other countries like China, Japan, Australia, United States and even in parts of Europe.
The Big Shoes Camp date is still not confirmed, but will most likely be held in early December or in late January. I will update you on that as soon as the camp's been finalize.
