Sapatos Festival in Marikina Philippines

By Sole Reaper at 09/02/08 09:07

Hello there my shoe loving folks. We invite to the longest shoes festival in the planet, the Sapatos Festival in Marikina Philippines on October 15 to November 30. It is a month long (or more) celebration that aims to promote the century old industry of the city and also to show the city's gratitude towards other for the continuous support of their product.

Watch this video to see the Filipino's obsession for shoes, of course, front-lined by our ever dearest Shoe Queen, the imeldific herself, former first lady Imelda Marcos.

YouTube Video

The Marikenyo's obsession for shoes can be seen through their shoe museum. Imelda Marcos has thousands of shoe pairs and more than 200 pairs of it are now displayed in the Marikina Shoe Museum. Everywhere you look there's a shoe symbol. They even have the biggest shoe statue in the world.

Marikina is the Philippine's shoe capital. It is also one of the biggest shoe maker in Asia. It is known for its international quality. A large part of their products are regularly exported abroad.

Marikina is not a big city but I'm still wondering how they managed to have more than 100 shoe companies around and yet the competition atmosphere is still good. Really, a shoe monopoly is non-existent in this city.

I recently had a chance to try heel straps, and I have to tell you - these are truly awesome! I got the clear ones, along with black, and knew the moment I slipped them on I loved them. We can’t wear Mary Janes all the time, and slides/mules are challenging on stairs. http://www.footballsportsapparel.com I’ve even made passed on shoes I really liked thinking “…too bad it doesn’t have some kind of strap at the top”. No longer a worry!
