Gah. As I was walking near downtown the other way, I almost tripped down my slippers. I realized that my favorite pair of rubber slippers is actually deteriorating already. The sole has somewhat separated with the foot pad (I don't know how you call them), giving them some sort of mouthpiece--just like slipper puppets.
Good thing the "mouth" was just a bit small, so I can still actually wear it without embarrassing myself. But I know that this will be a problem in the future if I don't mend it. The rubber soles are also becoming thinner and thinner--and it was just last December when I bought it!
I don't think it's about the quality of the slippers. I can't count how many times I have bought pairs of slippers (oh yes I do love them) that lasted only for one or two months. They cannot be all cheap, can they? I think it's the way I walk. I have this bad habit of running my slippers against the surface of concrete, thereby accelerating the wear-off period of my footwear. The only exception to this are some of my stronger rubber shoes that lasted me for a couple of years before I gave them away due to my larger feet.
So what do I do now? Being the rubber-slipper enthusiast that I am, I am once again tempted to purchase another pair of rubber slippers, but maybe this time I will try out another brand. My recent pair was from Fila, which I had bought because of this big sale during Christmas.
Alternatively, I may also use my new rubber shoes more often. However, in truth I am not so fond of rubber shoes because they make my feet extra sweaty, even with the socks on. I still prefer to have my feet exposed to the air.
How about you? How long does it take before your rubber slippers wear off?
