Spain At Your Feet!

By Sole Reaper at 05/27/08 04:49

OMG! I was browsing the world of video in YouTube when I stumbled upon this video.

Take a look at some Spanish Shoe Fashion Show! They're gorgeous!

YouTube Video

Shoes that were showcased during the fashion show are both for male and female shoes enthusiasts and collectors. These includes Cinderella shoes, stilettos, rubber shoes, high-heels, safety shoes, party shoes, formal shoes and more.

They are shoes from around the world and were designed by the world's most famous shoes designers.

But I think next time they have to cover the faces of the models. Because some of the audience looked on their faces rather than on the shoes haha. This is a shop fashion show afterall!

Athlete

By Sole Reaper at 05/26/08 13:32
, Training Shoes: Nike Cortez

When I was still in secondary education, I used to be a an athlete for my school for the games of Badminton and a local martial arts called Arnis (Kali Eskrima). I love both of them. I really am a sports man.

Whenever we train ourselves, we are asked to wear shoes that are specifically made for training purposes. One of them is Nike's Cortez. The Cortez model is considered as one of Nike's most successful model. It has been around since 1967 when Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike and a notable coach, designed it for this athletes. I can really say that wearing the Cortez model during trainings is a perfect idea.

I credit my extensive training as the reason why I am become 'semi-famous' in both sports I joined. From the lowest sports level inside the school, I won my way up to the regional games, wherein all towns of a region will compete for a certain sport. The winner will then be sent to a higher level, the Palarong Pambansa or the National Games. Can you imagine me playing badminton in the morning and will compete with Arnis in the afternoon? Tiring but it really feels great when you win and people will admire you for it.

When I won in both sports, my coach in game made me decide to what sport should I really stick because the National Games do not allow dual category player. I chose Arnis since I excel there better as compared to badminton of which there are many highly potential players than me. I reached Palarong Pambansa in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In 2005, of which I am already a college student, my coach contacted me and told asked my help to stand as execution judge to the Arnis category in the 2005 SEA Games held in Manila, Philippines. I willingly accept his offer. In return, I was given proper compensation, SEA Games freebies and guess what, a free Nike Cortez shoes. Haha.

I never played Arnis since then. That was the last thing I did for the sports. I never thought that one of the reason why I excelled in the game is also the last gift I will earn from being involved in it. Cortez rocks!

The Dancing Shoes of Dinagyang

By Sole Reaper at 05/20/08 02:12
, Dancing Shoes: Dancing Shoes

Last week, the Aliwan (enjoyment) Fiesta was held successfully in Manila, Philippines.

Aliwan Fiesta is actually a competition of all the fiestas in the country. So it means it is the grandest festival in the Metro, but of course festivals held in their own provinces and districts are still the best.

What caught my attention is the delegation from Cebu bringing their ever famous Sinulog Festival. They are very good in dancing, and wearing their ever colorful costumes is simply spectacular.

Another delegation that competes pretty well in the finals against the Sinulog of Cebu is Iloilo's Dinagyang Festival. The crowd was delighted when they went out and showed the people their groves and moves and their dancing shoes. Yes, the one and only dancing shoes in the festival.

Dinagyang is the only delegation in the competition who wear shoes. All of the other delegations do not wear anything for their feet even if the floor is pretty hot from the heat of the sun. As you should know, each delegation is bringing their best tribal dances and cultural shows that's why most of them are barefooted. In the previous years, Dinagyang do not also wear shoes but this year is different. They want to defy the traditional costume but they said the performance and the spirit of the their traditional dance is still there.

Dinagyang finished last in the costumes category.

Anyway, I think their dancing shoes helped them a lot in dancing because their traditional dance requires a lot of jumping and a lot of lousy foot works, so it is acceptable that they put on their shoes to prevent any injuries for their performers. And to think that dancing shoes are really meant to be use for dancing is something you really cannot deny.

Do-It-Yourself Shoe

By Sole Reaper at 05/13/08 05:32
Have you ever dreamed of making your own shoes? Of course you did. Everybody wants their shoes be customized, right?

Now if ever you had the chance, what kind of shoes will you make? Is it a leather shoes? A boots? Rubber shoes? Soccer or running shoes? Ahh, whatever it is, I am sure you will make the shoes that you really think will fit you.

Here is a simple video tutorial of a Do-It-Yourself shoe.

YouTube Video

It may look simple, but it is actually not. I have tried that as a subject project in High School and I literally sweat the hell out of me. Maybe I just really do not have the skills to make a shoe even if it is that simple!

It's better taking pictures of them than actually making them! Ha ha!

Lets Go Artsy Fancy

By Sole Reaper at 05/10/08 17:18
, Art Shoes: Shoe Plant Bed

In case you haven't notice, we got a flower base photo on the right side of this article. Oooppss, sorry, that wasn't a flower base at all. Let's call it a flower shoebase.

Why throw your old shoes? Why burn your kid's unused sneakers? Let's plant some brain on those shoes and transform it to something else like those in the photo. Let's put some arts on our special shoes. Plant ideas. Plant innovation. And plant plants. Lol!

You need not to put some plants from Spain or Portugal nor have your Brazilian golden duranta leaves grow in your smelly sneakers. You just have to make those artsy brains work. Like for example, instead of throwing it why not cut the rear part of your old sneakers and make it like a slip on! Now you have recycled slippers from your old sneakers! Stitch some designs, add colors or glitters and voila! You have made a masterpiece out of your rotting shoes!

Well, if your shoes is a vintage Converse, or a signature design worth thousands of dollars, I advised you to think twice, no, double, before you do what we just discuss. Ha ha! Or if you are someone like the Imelda Marcos of the Philippines, well then you can use one of your thousand pairs of shoes as a fashion experiment. That would be "imeldific"!

You never know, you can even make a stake out of making recycled art shoes! But be sure not to stitch nor scissor your shoes while your still wearing it. It's an idea you will surely regret ha ha!

Animated Shoes

By Sole Reaper at 05/06/08 05:47
, Cartoons: Cartoon Shoes

We often see our favorite characters in movies and cartoon films wearing beautiful shoes. Most of them are girls, like Cinderella and her golden slippers. But her Prince is also wearing a good one, boots, though not noticeable.

But sometimes, our favorite characters themselves are turned to shoes. The photo on the side one of my favorite cartoon characters, Tasmanian Devil. Back in my grade school days, my notebooks and even my bag contains Tasmanian's face. Ha ha, it was fun recalling those times.

Now, I just laugh at myself recalling my cartoon fetish haha. My friends also have their own favorites. My two best friends love Mickey Mouse and Marvin the Martian. My lady friends love Lola Bunny, Tweety Bird and Princess Jasmine. Those were the days.

When my sister went shopping yesterday she bought those Tasmanian Devil house shoes. I find it very cute, but was very hesitant to try it. I don't know why, maybe because I believe I am already a grown up and cartoons are not for me anymore. But I really can't help it! I wear it on and roamed around the house like a kid. I see myself some ten years ago. The memories were relive.

What happened next? I told my sister that she has to buy a new one for herself because Tasmanian shoes is now mine, haha evil! I'm not that bad so I just gave her money more than what she paid for the slippers! She bought it for 5$ but I gave her 10$. She insisted that I should pay her traveling fee and physical work of going to the store, lol.

Really, its great sometimes to play like a kid with your animated shoes, as if they were real and you are riding them. However, don't play with them when someone not part of your family is on the look. Lol!

Hover Shoes and How To Build It

By Sole Reaper at 05/05/08 22:22
Ever dreamed of flying around with just your shoes? Dreamed of going to places where you need not to walk and just hover around as if you are in the world of Star Wars and Yoda is looking at you while you fly?

Well, its a bit of exaggeration so lets get it close to reality. We humans have already invented hovercrafts and hoverboards. If you've seen spiderman fighting Harry Osborne, then you will see Osborne, or Green Goblin, flying using a futuristic hoverboard.

But this time, let us do something more realistic. You can't really fly with it, but at least you can float. Watch the video.

YouTube Video

Now isn't that great? Hover shoes. I definitely would want to build one! But I guess it will take a lot of practice for you to be able to control it perfectly. Even if its just a concept, I really would like to accept the idea of materializing it.

Float. Float. Float.
