Why does relatively plain footwear become expensive?

I don't believe for a minute that putting decorations on the shoes is what makes them expensive, although it adds to it.

What makes them expensive is to add the NAME of the designer. I have seen some really downright awful shoes that pass for designer just because it came out of the box with Gucci on it!

It is always going to be that way also, as long as we suckers will pay the price!
