For quite a number of weeks, I've been contemplating whether I should purchase a pair of Fila shoes. The company apparently had this annual Christmas offering where they will offer the shoes, even those that are considered to be new models, at 50% off their normal price. Furthermore, part of the profits of these shoes will also be donated to certain charitable institutions.
I had already bought a pair of these Fila slippers for day-to-day use prior to that. At 50% price reduction, I guess I also saved about $10 from it. With the reduction in the rubber shoes, it was also possible to save as much as $50. It was already a good deal. It's just that I wasn't able to purchase it that time because of too much expenses.
And it was a good thing that I haven't bought it yet. One of my uncles just got back in town yesterday for his month-long vacation, my dad informed me. My dad then returned just earlier today and handed me and my brother our late Christmas gifts. We were given a pair of shoes each.
What I had were some white rubber shoes from the Nike Zoom line, while my brother had a pair of Chuck Taylor All-Stars-ish pair shoes from Spanish retailer Zara's footwear line. I thought the Zara shoes were a bit on the ugly side because of the shoe front's laminated surface (the shoes were made out of cloth and rubber), but given my brother's taste for these kind of shoes, maybe he'll still wear it.
Meanwhile, someone here is cheerful because he didn't have to spend a single penny on a new pair of rubber shoes. At least I had a pair of shoes at 50% off, but actually 100% off! I reduced my savings significantly because of this trip that I had had with my family, so I was really happy that I didn't have to spend anything.
Well, maybe I can look for a new pair of slippers. I think I need a new one...
